HELLO MARK, LET’S START WITH HOW DID YOU GET YOUR JOB IN GAMES?

Hello! After completing a 5 Year Integrated Master’s Course in Computer Game Development at Queen’s University Belfast, I applied to an indie studio in Guildford and moved to Guildford in 2016!

WHAT DO YOU DO DAY-TO-DAY?

My day-to-day consists of fire-fighting any issues with the current build, doing any planned engineering tasks, mentoring and supporting the other engineers on the team and generally trying to keep everything engineering-related ticking.

WHAT MOST EXCITES YOU ABOUT YOUR ROLE?

I am passionate about the project and the people I work with, my path in games has always been on route to being a Lead Software Engineer and I am incredibly proud and appreciative of having the chance to do so here at Ballistic Moon.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO SOMEONE ASPIRING TO BE A LEAD SOFTWARE ENGINEER?

Focus on the people around you to better yourself. Surround yourself with people to can learn from and people who motivate you. Gain as much experience as you can in fast paced environments, big and small studios and always push yourself.

WHAT’S THE BEST THING ABOUT WORKING AT BALLISTIC MOON?

The opportunities available to all, they are there for the taking if you are driven and prove yourself!
